Barbara C. (Currie) Martin

April 22, 1926 — September 2, 2008

Barbara C. Martin, 82, of Pine Run and Lakeview, Doylestown, formerly of Cape Coral, FL and Cedar Grove, NJ passed away Tuesday morning, September 2, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late A. Herbert Martin, who died in 1999.

Born in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Evalyn (Williams) Currie. She grew up in Belleville, NJ and was a graduate of Purdue University.

Mrs. Martin was a homemaker most of her life.

She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral, FL and most recently attended St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie,

Mrs. Martin enjoyed reading and playing tennis and bridge. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter: Deborah Totten and her husband, John, Perkasie; three grandchildren: Scott Totten and his fiancée, Melissa Smith, Christine Totten, Corey Totten; a sister: Nancy Hayes and her husband, Joseph, Virginia Beach, VA; one niece, Julie Barnes, North Carolina; and two nephews: Jeffrey Hayes, North Carolina and Joe Hayes, Virginia.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Arthur H. Martin, Jr., who died in 1992, and a nephew, Ronald Hayes, who died in 2007.

Her Memorial Service will be held Thursday evening, September 11 at 7:00 PM in St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dill Avenue and Chestnut Street, Perkasie. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Barbara’s memory to the Building and Renovation Fund of St. Andrew’s Ev. Lutheran Church, PO Box 257, Perkasie, PA 18944.
