Arlene Manero, 78, a longtime resident of Sellersville, passed away on Saturday, March 26, in Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, Richlandtown. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony S. Manero, Sr., for 50 years, until his death in 2005.
Born in South Perkasie, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Elsie (Allem) Schuster. She was a 1951 graduate of Sell-Perk High School.
A homemaker most of her life, Arlene had been employed for 20 years in manufacturing with the former Pittman Company, in Sellersville and Harleysville.
Mrs. Manero enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. She was a great cook, who loved to bake. Arlene also loved going to the casinos with her husband. She especially cherished her dogs. But the joy of her life was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by six children: Anthony S. Manero, Jr., Dino R. Manero, both of Perkasie; Susan M. Virnelson and her husband, Karl, of Sellersville; Chris S. Manero and his wife, Tracey, of Hilltown; Michael S. Manero and his wife, Ginger, of Perkasie; and Tina Dietrich, of Haycock; a son-in-law, Barry Hangey, of East Greenville; fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandsons; three brothers: Leroy Schuster, of Perkasie; Warren Schuster and his wife, Shirley, and Edward Schuster, all of Hilltown; four sisters: Joyce Tyler, of New Hampshire; Agnes Christy, of Quakertown; Delores Linsenbigler, of Quakertown; and Ann Popiwny and her husband, Carl, of Perkasie.
In addition to her husband, Arlene was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Hangey; one grandson, Devon Manero; two sisters: Helen Pittman and Evelyn Walls; and two brothers: Raymond and Norman Schuster.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until time of service.
Interment will be conducted in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations in Arlene’s name be made to The Cottage of Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, 108 South Main Street, Richlandtown, PA 18955 or Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960.
