Elsie (Richter) Leister

Elsie Leister, 85, of Telford, formerly a long-time resident of Sellersville, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. She was the beloved wife of Paul R. Leister for 65 years.

Born in Quakertown, she was the daughter of the late Erdman and Emma (Egert) Richter.

Elsie grew up in the village of Rich Hill and was a graduate of Quakertown High School.

Mrs. Leister had been employed as a stock room clerk for 29 years at the U.S. Gauge Division of Ametek, Inc., Sellersville, retiring in 1988. Prior to that, she had worked in the offices of the former Penn Pants and Lemmon Pharmaceuticals, both of Sellersville, and American Olean Tile, Lansdale.

A longtime active member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Almont, West Rockhill Township, Elsie had volunteered as an usher and greeter, planted flowers, cleaned the church, and helped to paint the Sunday school rooms and Fellowship Hall. Additionally, she was the Lutheran Brotherhood communicator for Lenape Branch #8181.

Elsie had participated in the U.S. Gauge Bowling League.

An avid gardener, Mrs. Leister also enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, baking, and travelling with her husband. She loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren whom she adored very much.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Leister is survived by her daughter, Paulette Eister, and her husband, Warren, of Perkasie; two granddaughters: Brenda Kleinhenz, and her husband, John, of Shoemakersville; and Jennifer Wilson, and her husband, David, of Gilbertsville; four great-grandchildren: Sean, Kelly, Jacob, and Matthew; and a brother, Robert Richter, of Quakertown.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Victoria Yerk and Ruth Slozer; and a brother, Harold Richter.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 23, 2012, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.

Interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville.
