George Michael Langdon, of Sellersville, passed away on Sunday, September 29, in St. Luke’s VNA Hospice House, Lower Saucon Township. On November 5, 2013, George would have celebrated his 56th birthday.
He was the beloved husband of Kathleen E. (Hahn) Langdon. They would have celebrated 20 years of marriage on February 12, 2014.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Carmella “Dolly” (Vassallo) Langdon, of North Wales, and the late George Warren Langdon.
George was a 1977 graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia. He later earned his Associates degree in Computer Science from Bucks County Community College.
Mr. Langdon had been employed for 17 years as a senior programmer at Advanced Biologics, of New Hope, which later became INC Research.
George was a member of Christ Community Bible Church, Perkasie, where he had been an active volunteer helping with weekly worship services, serving as the church drummer, and assisting with families in transition with the church’s Keystone Hospitality Group.
He also helped with the church’s monthly Community Dinner and, with his wife, served with the Children’s Ministries. As a medical missionary, George had traveled to Third World countries, including Albania and Mongolia, doing mission work with Macedonia Ministries.
A passionate fisherman, George loved surf fishing on Long Beach Island. His family fondly remembers that “Fish trembled at the mention of George’s name.” He also played in a Christian band and had been teaching himself to play bass guitar.
George also enjoyed traveling internationally with his wife. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his children: Kelly Ann Smith and her husband, Robert, of Red Hill; William Richard “Butchie” Meisner and his wife, Samantha, of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren: Michael, Danya, Crystle, Kate, and Makayla; a great-granddaughter, Payton; a brother, James Langdon, and his wife, Cheryl, of Bala Cynwd; a sister, Barbara Henry, of Philadelphia; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 4, in Christ Community Bible Church, 1830 Ridge Road, Perkasie, PA 18944. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
