Helga Laaster passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2012. She was 91. She was the loving wife of the late Heino Laaster for 64 years until his death in 2008.
Born in Estonia on the island of Saaremaa, she immigrated to the United States in 1956 with her husband and daughter. Formerly of Freeville, New York, she had most recently been a resident of Souderton, PA for twenty years.
Helga had been employed at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, retiring in 1986.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, embroidery and various other kinds of needlework. Helga also enjoyed making jewelry and going to gem and mineral shows. She was an avid dancer and enjoyed music. Most of all, she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.
Mrs. Laaster is survived by her daughter, Pia Graham, and her husband, Donald; and five grandchildren: Krista, Eric, Alex, Galen, and Sonnet Graham.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Sepp, and her sister, Luule Sepp.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012, at the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main St., Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call Friday at the funeral home from 1:30 pm until time of service.
Interment will be private.
