Maria (Hawlryczak) Kulan

March 11, 1923 — April 24, 2009

Maria Kulan, 86, of Sellersville, formerly of Quakertown, passed away Friday morning, April 24, 2009, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Quakertown. She was the wife of the late Michael Kulan for 49 years, until his death in 1999.

Born in Przemysl, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Kateryn (Wajda) Hawlryczak. Mrs. Kulan and her husband came to the United States in 1951 aboard the Queen Mary ocean liner and settled in Quakertown. They later moved to West Rockhill Township, near Sellersville.

Mrs. Kulan had been employed for 32 years as a sewing machine operator with the former Royal Pants Manufacturing Company, Perkasie, before retiring in 1984.

She was a Catholic.

Mrs. Kulan enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, crocheting, and cooking for her family. A cat lover, she also enjoyed trips to the beach, especially Wildwood, New Jersey.

She is survived by her son, Michael S. Kulan, D.D.S., and his wife, Christina; and a grandson, Steven M. Kulan, all of Sellersville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 30, 2009, at 10:00 AM in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until 9:45 AM at the church.

Interment will be in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Sellersville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church at the address above.
