Roberta Kreider

April 3, 1926 — January 30, 2025

Roberta Kreider, of Sellersville, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025, at her residence. She was 98.

She had shared nearly 76 years of marriage with the late Harold G. Kreider until his death in 2022.

Born to Oliver and Salome Showalter, Roberta was the only daughter of their five children, who grew up in Yoder, Kansas.

Roberta taught school in Perrington, TX immediately upon graduating from high school.

She married Harold in May 1946. In her 30+ years as a minister’s wife, she touched many lives.

Mrs. Kreider taught her daughters the household arts of cooking, sewing, knitting, gardening, and canning. She was a talented gardener, growing beautiful African violets and roses. Always a voracious reader for her entire life, Roberta enjoyed reading many types of books.

In the last 20 years of her life, she was active in promoting LGBT rights, editing three books of collections of LGBT stories read worldwide and found in the book collection of human rights activist, Bishop Desmond Tutu.

Roberta touched many lives and modeled a life of faith and service.

Mrs. Kreider is survived by her two daughters and their spouses: Evelyn (Fred Martin), and Bonita (Dean Nussbaum); five grandchildren: Luke Martin, Jon Aaron Martin, Anika Mullen, Benjamin Nussbaum, and Zakary Nussbaum; seven great-grandchildren: Lela, Riley, Collin, and Avery Martin, and Jack, Maggie, and Theo Nussbaum.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Perry, and her husband, Bill, and a great-granddaughter, Liza Martin.

In keeping with her enduring commitment to her faith and service and per her wishes, her body has been donated to science.
