Nong Joo Kim

January 20, 1927 — April 1, 2015

Nong Joo Kim, of Lansdale, formerly of Claremont, California, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. She was the wife of the late Gyu Hur for 57 years, until his death in 2006. She was 88.

Born in Pyung Yang, North Korea, she was the daughter of the late Nae Mook Kim and Bok Soon Kim.

Nong Joo was a homemaker.

She had been a member of Shim Hee Jo Eun Lutheran Church, where she was an active member and honored as a Kwon Sa.

After her husband’s death in 2006, Nong Joo moved to Lansdale from California.

Nong Joo enjoyed gardening and playing cards.

She is survived by her five daughters: Miran Heo, of Lansdale; Aeran Her, of North Wales; Young Ran Hur, of Seoul, South Korea; Heran Kim, of Claremont, California; Boran Kim, of Swanee, Georgia; her son, Yong Gil Hur, of Philadelphia; eighteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, in Grace Lutheran Church, 25 West Broad Street, Hatfield, PA 19440. A visitation will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 7 at the church.

Interment will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Hatfield.
