Walter B. Ketterer, of Sellersville, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021, at his residence. He was 90.
He was the beloved husband of Marion M. (Minarik) Ketterer for 65 years.
Born in Tohickon, Walter was the son of the late Harry L. and Mabel (Bleam) Ketterer.
Wally often reminisced about growing up on the family farm, just outside of Sellersville, where he had faithfully done his chores each morning and after school. He was a 1949 graduate of Sell-Perk High School.
Mr. Ketterer was a U.S. Army veteran.
Wally had been employed by Roadway Express, Line Lexington as a truck driver for 23 years.
Mr. Ketterer was a long-time member of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sellersville.
Wally was a life member of the Sellersville Moose, Lodge 1539, the Nase-Kraft American Legion Post 255, Sellersville, and the Antique Automobile Club of America.
His passion for antique cars was evidenced by Wally’s meticulous restoration and rebuilding of classic Model T and Model A Fords, often totally reworking the old engines, especially after his retirement granted him more time to enjoy his favorite hobby.
Wally was also a fan of NASCAR, the Philadelphia Phillies, and TV’s “Wheel of Fortune.” With his wife, he was a loyal supporter of the Sellersville Museum, donating many items for display and, for many years, attending many monthly exhibit openings.
Wally’s Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry is evidenced by his love of scrapple and a good hot roast beef sandwich. His favorite dinner beverage was his Bully Hill wine.
The family fondly recalls two of Wally’s favorite sayings: “Nun ya”(meaning, “None of your business.”) and “You gotta leave from the same door you came in.”
In addition to his wife, Mr. Ketterer is survived by his two sons: Mark A. Ketterer, of Sellersville, Scott A. Ketterer and his wife, Holly S., of Perkasie; two daughters: Diane Berner, of East Greenville, and Kelly Weber and her husband, Matt, of Millsboro, DE; eleven grandchildren: Chad, Kristy, Eric, Amy, Jeremy, CJ, Paige, Janelle, Rachel, Susan, and Melanie; and six great-grandchildren: Caeden, Sadie, Gianna, Josephine, Evelyn, and Leona.
He was preceded in death by twelve siblings.
