Carol E. (Walck) Kaufman, 76, of Telford, formerly of Millsboro, Delaware, and Sellersville, passed away peacefully at her residence in the Lutheran Community at Telford on Monday, September 12, 2011. She was the beloved wife of Ray C. Kaufman for 55 years.
Born in Albrightsville, she was a daughter of the late Warren and Emily (Gower) Walck.
Carol was a 1955 graduate of St. Luke’s School of Nursing, Bethlehem.
A registered nurse, she had a long career in nursing, beginning with St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill. Then, she was employed as an operating room nurse at Quakertown Hospital. Carol was an ER nurse at Doylestown Hospital and a school nurse at St. Jude School, Chalfont. Mrs. Kaufman next served as the Assistant Director of Nursing at the Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Township. She retired in 1989 as the plant nurse at the U.S. Gauge Division of Ametek, Inc., Sellersville.
Carol was a devoted volunteer in the communities in which she lived. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, and an American Red Cross volunteer. When she resided in Millsboro, she volunteered as a literacy teacher and at the local library for 13 years.
She was a long-time member of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sellersville, where she had served on the Altar Committee and had taught Sunday School and Bible School.
In her earlier years, Carol had sung with the Zion Choral Society, Zion Hill.
Mrs. Kaufman enjoyed sewing, needlecraft, reading, crossword puzzles, and gardening, especially tending to her flowers.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Lisa Kaufman, and her husband, Alton Johnson, of Walnutport; and Brenda Kolb, and her husband, Edward, of Perkasie; one son, Tom Kaufman, of Quakertown; and four grandchildren: Scott Lewis; Brian Kolb; Doug Kolb; and Emily Kaufman.
Carol was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 17, 2011, in St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 25 East Church Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call at the church Saturday morning, from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
Interment will be private in Trinity Great Swamp United Church of Christ Cemetery, Spinnerstown.
