Ivan "Johnny" Jurin

September 25, 1925 — July 1, 2011

Ivan "Johnny" Jurin, 85, a life-long resident of Hilltown Township, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret "Midge" (Merritt) Jurin, who died in 1989, and the beloved life companion of Patti (Loux) Goralski.

Born in Fricks, Hilltown Township, he was the son of the late Ivan Frank and Anna (Stresec) Jurin.

A recipient of the Purple Heart, Mr. Jurin was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater of Operations with the 459th Bombardment Group.

Ivan was an insurance representative with Metropolitan Life and, later, he owned and operated his own agency, with Nationwide Insurance, retiring in 1988. Previously, he had been employed as a milkman for the former Martin Century Farms, Lansdale, and later, Lehigh Valley Dairies.

He had recently attended Christ Episcopal Church, of Riverton, New Jersey, and had been a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, of Hilltown.

Mr. Jurin was a member of the Hilltown Historical Society and TLA (To Live Again). Along with his late wife, he was a co-founder of the Delaware Valley Bottle Club.

Johnny enjoyed dancing, particularly waltzes; golfing; bowling; collecting antiques and bottles; and traveling, especially to The Villages in Florida.

In addition to his life companion, Mr. Jurin is survived by his three sons: Ivan J., of Perkasie; Eric W., of Green Lane; Philip A., of Haverhill, New Hampshire; daughter, Dyanne E., of Zieglerville; five grandchildren: Christopher; Courtney; Greg; Kent; and Rory; and two sisters: Anna Bernotas, of North Carolina, and Rosemarie McCoach, of Hilltown.

A Memorial Service celebrating Ivan’s life will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at 11:00 AM in Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 1634 Hilltown Pike, Hilltown, PA 18927. A visitation at the church will begin at 10:30 AM up until time of service.

Interment with military honors will follow in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Perkasie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hilltown Historical Society, P.O. Box 79, Hilltown, PA 18927.
