John F. Jones, Sr., of Sellersville, passed away quietly at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, June 20, 2016. He was 65.
He was the beloved husband of Sandra (Ragan) Jones for 40 years.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John S. and Mary (Hall) Jones.
A talented handyman, Mr. Jones had been employed most recently as a maintenance worker for the Quakertown Farmers Market.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 255, Sellersville, serving as a past commander and chaplain. He had also served terms as adjutant for the 9th District and area arbitrator for the Sons of the American Legion. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Riders of the American Legion in Sellersville.
John also was a member of the Forrest Lodge VFW Post #245, Sellersville; the German-Hungarian Club, Hilltown; and the East Penn Sporting Club, Bowmanstown.
A devoted volunteer for many organizations, John had been active with Pennridge FISH, Philabundance, and the VALOR Clinic Foundation, Monroe County.
John loved riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and crabbing at the shore.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Jones is survived by his children: John M. Jones, Philadelphia; James J. Ragan and his wife Misty, of Tobyhanna; John F. Jones, Jr. and his wife Michelle, of Quakertown; three grandsons: Lance Jones, Damien Jones, and James Ragan; his siblings: Rose; Thomas Jones and his wife Arlene, of Croydon; Dolores Peters; and Francis Jones, both of Philadelphia; and his devoted dog “Simen.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Ragan.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 23, in the Rockwild Union Sunday School, 2408 Old Bethlehem Pike, Sellersville, PA 18960. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Jones’s name may be made to the Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960 to help defray expenses.
