Robert F. Holly

Robert F. Holly, a long-time resident of Souderton, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, in the Peter Becker Community, Harleysville. He was 78.

He was the beloved husband of the late Donna J. (Feuchtmayer) Holly for 19 years until her death in 1989.

Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Lawrence W. and Perna O. (Gerhart) Holly.

Bob was a 1963 graduate of Pennridge High School. He later earned a Bachelor’s degree at Bloomsburg State College (now Bloomsburg University) and his Master of Education degree from Lehigh University.

Mr. Holly had been employed for many years as a German teacher at Pennridge High School, where he had also coached the boys’ varsity tennis team for several years. He was later employed in education administration by the Methacton School District, from which he retired in 2004 as the Director of Technology.

An animal lover, Bob diligently advocated for local animal rescue efforts. He also loved the beach, enjoying frequent vacations in Ocean City, NJ and Brigantine, NJ, as well as Ft. Myers, FL. As an admitted tech geek, Bob always had to have the newest gadgets. He also especially enjoyed nature walks at Peace Valley and Nockamixon parks. Bob enjoyed dining out and could be frequently found at many local eateries. Most especially, Bob delighted in time spent with his family.

Mr. Holly is survived by his two children: Blake T. Holly and his partner, Jakki Maria, of Macungie; Nicole S. Whalen and her husband, Jay, of Harleysville; and six grandchildren: Avery Holly, Ashton Bender, Katarina Whalen, Gabriella Goudsward, Garrett Whalen, and Miles Whalen. He is also survived by his two siblings: F. Joseph Rausch and his wife, Cary, and Perna Patricia Hipp and her husband, Joseph; and three brothers-in-law: Donald Swartley, Nicholas Feuchtmayer, Jr., and Lawrence Weaver, Jr.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two sisters, Abby Jean Brown and M. Susan Swartley; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Weaver.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 16, in Trinity Lutheran Church, 19 South Fifth Street, Perkasie, PA 18944, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.

Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
