Willis B. "Willie" Hollenbach

Willis B. "Willie" Hollenbach, 92, of Telford, formerly of Perkasie, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010, in the Lutheran Community at Telford. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn (Shelly) Hollenbach. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on June 20, 2010.

Born in Perkasie, he was the son of the late Fred B. and Julianna (Benner) Hollenbach.

In his early years, Willie had been employed as a hosiery worker in Lansdale. He was then employed at Hubbard’s Ball Factory, Perkasie, from 1939 to 1941.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served as a medic in the 187th Army General Hospital, in the European, African, and Middle Eastern theaters.

Following his return, Willie was employed with J. M. Freed, Perkasie, until his retirement in 1982.

He was a life-long resident of Perkasie until moving to the Lutheran Community in 2001.

Mr. Hollenbach was a long-time member of St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sellersville, where he had served as an usher for 50 years, on Church Council, and on the Property Committee. For many years, he had also been the catcher on the church softball team.

He was a member of the American Legion Nase-Kraft Post 255, Sellersville, and the Perkasie Owls.

Willie enjoyed woodworking, playing golf, and shooting pool.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters: Edith, and her husband, Arden Kinsey, of Sellersville; and Lorraine, and her husband, Rev. Frank Keller, of Souderton; two brothers: Russell Hollenbach, and his wife, Audrey, of Telford; and George Hollenbach, of Sellersville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Nelson, Edwin, and Frank; and his sisters: Elizabeth Wolf, Dorothy Detweiler, Lovera Opdyke, and Catherine Berthold.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at 11:00 AM in St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 25 East Church Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call at the church Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of service.

Interment will be private in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Perkasie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at the above address or to Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960.
