Elizabeth A.“Betty” Hoke, 79, of Quakertown, formerly a long-time resident of Sellersville, passed away Saturday, April 28, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. She was the wife of the late Paul W. Hoke, who died in 1971.
Born in Hackettstown, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late George and Angela (Demicelli) Applegate.
A waitress all of her life, Betty was employed in several area restaurants.
She especially enjoyed bowling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was a former member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Perkasie, and the Nase-Kraft American Legion Post No. 255, Sellersville.
Betty is survived by her four children: Lynn A. Carpenter, Sellersville; Ronald B. Hoke, Hatfield; Patricia G. Donahue and her husband, Jeff, Midlothian, Texas; and Barry W. Hoke and his wife, Donna, of Quakertown; seven grandchildren: Jason Thorn, Christopher Donahue, Scott Donahue, Justin Carpenter, Mandy Hoke, Shawna Hoke, and Kaylee Hoke; one great-grandson: Evan Ryan Thorn; a brother: Alfred “Sass” Applegate and his wife, Lillian, of Hackettstown, NJ; and a sister-in-law: Nancy Applegate, of Hackettstown, NJ.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Thorn, and a brother, Malcolm Applegate.
Her Funeral service will be held Friday, May 4, at 11:00 AM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville. Family and friends may call Friday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment in Sellersville Cemetery.
