Edward F. Hebhardt

Edward Francis Hebhardt, formerly of Sellersville, passed away at his residence in the Lutheran Community at Telford, on Saturday, February 25, 2017. He was 97.

He was the beloved husband of Elsie A. (LeVan) Hebhardt for 71 years until her death in 2012.

Born in Star City, West Virginia, he was the son of the late John L. and Helen (Stuhl) Hebhardt. His parents and three of his siblings emigrated from Europe through Ellis Island.

A 1937 graduate of Reading Senior High School, Edward had worked as a soda clerk before taking classes in drafting and time & motion analysis. He would later receive a drafting certificate from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore.

Mr. Hebhardt was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served as a machinist during World War II.

Mr. Hebhardt was employed for 34 years as a time study engineer at the former U. S. Gauge Division, Ametek, Inc., Sellersville, until retiring in 1985. Prior to that, he had worked as a drill press operator at Westinghouse, Baltimore, MD and with American Chain & Cable as a time-study engineer.

A long-time member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville, Mr. Hebhardt had created countless craft items over the years for the annual Christmas Bazaar.

Always a consummate gentleman, Edward was a dedicated family man and a gifted handyman comfortable with extensive home renovation projects.

Mr. Hebhardt is survived by a son, Jon Hebhardt, and his wife, Mary Ann, of Tiverton, Rhode Island; a daughter, Gail Ricci, and her husband, Robert, of Madison, Alabama; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Groves, in 2006, and his six siblings, Lewis, Margaret, Charles, Wilhelmina, Olga, and Helen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in the adjoining parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Hebhardt’s name may be made to the American Heart Association /American Stroke Association, PO Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.
