Ruth (Ziegler) Hangey

Ruth Hangey, 83, a 59-year resident of Sellersville, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday morning, April 12. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Hangey, who died in March 1996.

Born in Quakertown, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Kletzing) Ziegler.

She had been employed at the former Lutz Pants Factory, Sellersville, and had most recently worked for over thirty years at Moyer’s Chicks, Quakertown, before retiring in 2002.

She was a member of St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie.

Ruth had volunteered her time with West Rockhill Township activities. With her late husband, she had enjoyed playing bingo and dancing the polka. A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her two children: Bill Hangey, Sr. and his wife, Candy, Quakertown; and Dottie Walker, Sellersville; one brother, Wilmer Ziegler and his wife, Romaine, of Hilltown; four grandchildren: Melissa Merritt and her husband, Jason, of East Berlin, PA; Kyle Walker of Sellersville; B. J. Hangey and his wife, Chrissy, of Quakertown; and Brent Hangey and his wife, Jillianne, of Sellersville; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert, Jr., who died as a child.

Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 17, at 12:00 Noon in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville. Family and friends may call Tuesday morning, April 17 , from 11:00 AM until time of service.

Interment will be in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the charity of one’s choice.
