Samuel Haberle, Sr., 73, of Sellersville, passed away Sunday morning, June 26, 2011, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Cesario) Haberle for 48 years.
Born in Hilltown Township, he was the son of the late Herbert, Sr., and Catherine (Witner) Haberle.
Mr. Haberle was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served at the end of the Korean War.
A welder, he owned and operated his own business for many years, Haberle Welding & Fabrication, Hilltown. Later, Sam was a plant supervisor at the former Fairhill Fabricators, Inc., Lansdale, retiring in 1998.
Mr. Haberle was an avid hunter, fisherman, and woodworker. He was a member of the North Penn Gun Club, Trumbauersville, where he was a cook for many years. He considered himself a "jack of all trades, and master of none."
Sam also loved sports, especially watching the Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers. Along with his brothers, he had been a stock car driver at the former Hilltown Racetrack.
Besides his wife, Mr. Haberle is survived by his three sons: Samuel "Sammy" Haberle, Jr., and his wife, Gradine, of Schwenksville; Eric Haberle; and Todd Haberle; a daughter, Lori Haberle, all of Sellersville; three granddaughters: Hillary, Aleesha, and Tatiana; three brothers: LeRoy Haberle, and his wife, Pat, of Pennsburg; Abram Haberle, and his wife, Diane, of Hallstead; and Donald Haberle, and his wife, Brenda, of Telford; four sisters: Alice Moyer, and her husband, Jeryl, of Schwenksville; Catherine Galluppi, and her husband, Nicolino; Rebecca Godshall, and her husband, Stanley; and Viola Boyd, and her husband, Robbie, all of Quakertown; his stepmother, Viola (Witner) Haberle, of Quakertown; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Haberle, Jr.
His funeral service will be held Thursday evening, June 30, 2011, at 7:00 PM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call Thursday from 5:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Samuel’s name to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
