John J. Gwin, Jr.

November 29, 1945 — February 15, 2023

John Joseph Gwin, Jr., a long-time resident of Sellersville, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Holland Village, Holland, PA. He was 77.

He was the beloved husband of the late Linda M. (Worman) Gwin for 42 years until her death in 2008.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John J. Gwin, Sr. and Ruth E. (Behr) Gwin.

John was a 1963 graduate of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, Plymouth Meeting. He would later graduate from Muhlenberg College, Allentown, in 1972.

Mr. Gwin was a U. S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.

John had been employed for 10 years at Air Products and Chemicals, in Allentown, and as an engineer by E. I. Dupont de Nemours and Company, Wilmington, DE and Deepwater, NJ for 15 years until his retirement. He continued to work part-time, following his retirement, at Cox Automotive, Inc., in Manheim.

He was a long-time member of St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie, where he had formerly served on the Church Council and the Finance Committee.

An avid outdoorsman, John had enjoyed golfing, camping, and boating. Also a voracious reader and an expert in movie trivia, he had loved cats and spending time with his family.

Mr. Gwin is survived by his two brothers: Jeffrey R. Gwin and his wife, Grace, of Palm Harbor, FL, Russell C. Gwin and his wife, Stefanie; his sister, Ruth E. Wolfe, and her fiancé, Carl Franklin, of Holland, PA; many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Renee Gwin; a brother-in-law, Kevin Sweeney; extended Worman family members; and his beloved cat, “Dolly.”

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur C. Gwin, and a sister, Clare V. Sweeney.

His Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 12, in St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Avenue, Perkasie, PA 18944. There will be no visitation prior to the service.

Interment with military honors will follow in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie.
