Edith E. (Warner) Gindlesperger

February 15, 1924 — February 6, 2012

Edith E. Gindlesperger, a longtime resident of Sellersville, passed away suddenly at her residence on Monday, February 6, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold L. Gindlesperger until his death in 1986. She would have celebrated her 88th birthday on February 15.

Born in Boswell (Somerset County), she was the daughter of the late Robert and Edith (Shirey) Warner.

Edith was a graduate of Temple University.

Married during World War II, the Gindlespergers moved to Sellersville in 1947.

From 1947, Edith had been employed as a home economics teacher in the Sell-Perk and later, Pennridge School Districts. Known affectionately as "Mrs. G.," she retired in 1985 after 38 years.

Mrs. Gindlesperger was a longtime active member of St Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sellersville. She volunteered with altar care, as a greeter, on the guest book, and had sewn costumes for Vacation Bible School. In memory of her husband, she also helped to design and donated the stained glass window at the entrance to the church.

From 1995-2003, she was a member of the Sellersville Historical and Achievement Authority, the governing body of the Sellersville Museum, serving as treasurer and corresponding secretary. The growth of the Sellersville Museum and its increased monthly exhibit openings were established under her guidance.

Active with Sellersville Borough's 125th Anniversary commemoration in 1999, Edith coordinated the design and installation of the Sellersville signs on the north and south ends of town. She was also responsible for the updating of the veterans memorial monument to include native Sellersville World War II to Desert Storm veterans.

Edith had been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

During her younger years, she had enjoyed golfing with her husband.

Mrs. Gindlesperger is survived by two nieces: Deborah Leigh, of California; and Robin Van Demark, and her husband, Charles, of Texas; a great-niece, Carriee; a great-nephew, RJ; a great-great-niece, Sonja; and five cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, June Wenning.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 10, 2012, in St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 25 East Church Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
