Robert Galante, 85, of Quakertown, formerly of Sellersville, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2011, in Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Springfield Township. He was the beloved husband of Muriel (Egner) Galante for 61 years.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Romeo and Alma (Santi) Galante. Robert was a 1943 graduate of Brown Preparatory School, Philadelphia.
Mr. Galante was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II.
Bob had been employed at Philco Ford, Philadelphia; the Johnsville Naval Air Development Center, Warminster; M & S Electronics, Inc., Haddonfield, New Jersey, where he specialized in military aeronautical sales; and the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, from which he retired during the late 1970’s.
He was a member of the VFW Forrest Lodge Post 245, Sellersville. He also volunteered as a coach for the Pennridge Little League.
Mr. Galante had been a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.
In his spare time, he loved bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing, playing tennis, and going to the shore. The joy of his life, however, was spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by three children: Nancy Messina, of North Carolina; Brian Galante, of Quakertown; and Brenda Chandler, and her partner, James Gorenflo, of Plymouth Meeting; eight grandchildren: Christopher, Matthew, Eric, Jessica, Stacey, Jared, Gregory, and Michael; seven great-grandchildren: Julia, Mia, Matthew, Caleb, Mikayla, Eric, and Kendyll; and his beloved dog, "Oliver."
Services and interment with military honors will be private at the convenience of the family.
