Muriel E. “Mickey” Galante, of Quakertown, formerly of Sellersville, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016, in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. She was 86.
She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Galante for 61 years until his death in 2011.
Born in Quakertown, she was the daughter of the late Frank L. and Evelyn (Schoup) Egner. Mickey was a 1948 graduate of Quakertown High School.
Following high school, Muriel worked for Bell Telephone, Quakertown. After raising her family, Mrs. Galante was employed for more than 30 years as a switchboard operator in the District Office of Pennridge School District.
She had been a member of First United Church of Christ, Quakertown.
When her daughters were young, Mrs. Galante had volunteered as a Girl Scout leader.
Mickey enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, and doing crossword puzzles. She had also liked doing lottery scratch-offs. With her husband, she had loved to travel. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and dogs.
Mrs. Galante is survived by her three children: Nancy Messina and her partner, Jason Spengler, of Archdale, North Carolina; Brian Galante, of Quakertown; and Brenda Chandler, and her partner, James Gorenflo, of Plymouth Meeting; eight grandchildren: Christopher, Matthew, Eric, Jessica, Stacey, Jared, Gregory, and Michael; eight great-grandchildren: Julia, Mia, Matthew, Caleb, Mikayla, Eric, Kendyll, and Declan; and her dogs, “Oliver” and “Girlie.”
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Egner and Donald Egner.
All services will be private at the convenience of the family.
