Willard D. Freed

May 11, 1926 — August 7, 2011

Willard D. Freed, 85, a long-time resident of Perkasie, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011, in LifeQuest Nursing Center, Quakertown. He was the beloved husband of Elaine (Beck) Freed for 60 years.

Born in Souderton, he was the son of the late Stanley and Alice (Dettra) Freed.

Mr. Freed was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He had been employed for 40 years by the U.S. Gauge Division of Ametek, Inc., Sellersville, retiring in 1988.

Mr. Freed was a long-time member of St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie.

In his spare time, Willard enjoyed building model planes, winning several awards for flying competitions.

He was a member of the Buc Le Aero Sportsmen, Inc., and the Academy of Model Aeronautics for radio-controlled and electric planes.

Also, he won several awards in Bucks County for his expertise in archery.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Freed is survived by his two daughters: Terri Baker, and her husband, William, of Perkasie; and Bonnie Stickl, and her husband, Paul, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; four grandchildren: Stephanie Weachter, and her husband, Matthew; Rachel Ortiz, and her husband, Daniel, all of Quakertown; Gabriella Stickl; and Jared Stickl, both of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; four great-grandchildren: Maci, Brooklyn, Ty, and Natalia; and three sisters: Shirley Heller, of Souderton; Violet Woodburn, of Arizona; and Nancy Bickel, of Towamencin.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Heller and June Ziegler, and an infant brother.

His funeral service will be held Thursday, August 11, 2011, at 11:00 AM in St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dill Avenue and Chestnut Street, Perkasie, PA 18944. Family and friends may call at the church Thursday morning, from 9:30 AM until time of service.

Interment will be in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Willard’s name to St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 257, Perkasie, PA 18944.
