Dennis Laverne Derstine

March 17, 1939 — November 4, 2010

Dennis Laverne Derstine, 71, a life-long resident of Sellersville, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 4, 2010, at his residence.

Born in West Rockhill Township, he was the son of the late Walter and Marie (Sturm) Derstine. Known to many by his middle name, Laverne, he was a 1957 graduate of Pennridge High School.

Following his graduation, he served in the National Guard during the late 1950’s.

Mr. Derstine was employed as an electronics technician by Schulmerich Carillons, Sellersville, for over 40 years, retiring in 2003.

He was a member of East Rockhill Chapel, Quakertown, where he was an active volunteer.

Dennis loved to ride motorcycles, especially his Kawasaki Voyager. He was a member of the Keystone Road Riders, of Philadelphia, and the American Voyager Association.

Mr. Derstine is survived by his two sons: Dennis L. Derstine, and his wife, Michelle, of Leola; and Richard L. Derstine, and his wife, Denise, of Telford; four grandchildren: Nickolas, Megan, Ryan, and Amanda; a brother, James W. Derstine, Sr., and his wife, Pauline, of Sellersville; and his beloved dog, "Buddy," and cat, "Lucky."

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at 12 Noon in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until time of service.

Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bucks County SPCA, P.O. Box 277, Lahaska, PA 18931 or to East Rockhill Chapel, P.O. Box 224, Tylersport, PA 18971.
