Derek Lawrence Dawson, 63, a four-year resident of Perkasie, formerly of British Columbia, Canada, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 24, 2009, at his residence. He was the loving companion of Maureen T. Carroll, of Perkasie.
Born in Manchester, England, he was the son of the late James Thomas Dawson and Irene (Howard) Dawson.
Mr. Dawson had worked as a sales manager for Johnstone Supply, Warminster, Pennsylvania. He also was a student employment advisor at Pennco Tech, Bristol, Pennsylvania.
He attended Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Hilltown. While in Canada, Mr. Dawson had been a member of the Knights of Columbus, a director of the CCD, and also a Eucharistic minister.
Derek played guitar and piano. He was a man with a love for life, and he still enjoyed happy memories of his life in Canada and England.
In addition to his companion, he is survived by his three children: Darren Dawson, Paul Dawson, and Kymberly Dawson, all of British Columbia, Canada; several grandchildren; his former wife, Carole Dawson, of British Columbia, Canada; and his three cats: "Jenny," "Seamus," and "Murphy."
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Route 152 and Broad Street, Hilltown, PA 18927. There will be no calling hours.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
