Weldon D. Clemmer, a long-time resident of Perkasie, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at his residence. He was 86.
He was the beloved husband of Ruth J. (Harwick) Clemmer for 57 years.
Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Paul and Margaret (Drissel) Clemmer.
“Weldy” was a 1947 graduate of Sell-Perk High School. After graduation, he had played with the popular local baseball team, the Fleet Wings, later known as the Redbirds.
Mr. Clemmer was a veteran of the U. S. Army National Guard.
Weldon was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Perkasie.
Mr. Clemmer had been employed for 43 years in the inspection and shipping department of the former U. S. Gauge Division, Ametek, Inc., Sellersville. He retired in 1993.
Weldon had coached Pennridge Little League. A fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, “Weldy” had also collected beer steins and Ertl truck banks. He had enjoyed hunting as well.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Clemmer is survived by a daughter, Teri McHale, and her husband, William, of Willow Street, PA; two sons, Keith S. Clemmer and his wife, Joanne, of Sellersville; Mark D. Clemmer, of Coopersburg; seven grandchildren, Lauren, Kyle, Greg, Jenna, Steven, Elizabeth, and Logan; a sister, Pauline Stoneback, of Maryland; and his French mastiff, “Cheyenne.”
He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Brent Clemmer, who died in June 2016; two grandchildren, Monica and Patrick Clemmer; and three brothers, Paul, Robert, and Stanley Clemmer.
His Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., November 28, 2016, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Clemmer’s name may be made to St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Avenue, Perkasie, PA 18944.
