David Charles Clayton, Sr., of Hilltown Township, a devoted man of faith, beloved family patriarch, and community servant, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, at the age of 91.
He was the beloved husband of the late Harriet M. (Lodge) Clayton until her death in 2019. They had shared 62 beautiful years of marriage.
Born in Danbury, CT, David was the son of the late Rev. Leonard A. and Ruth (McCollom) Clayton. David lived a life defined by love, service, and a deep connection to his faith and family.
A lifetime member of Huntingdon Valley Presbyterian Church, David's faith was a guiding light throughout his life.
Mr. Clayton served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army, including time as a firefighter while stationed in Japan.
His dedication to service extended to his community, where he was a volunteer firefighter with the Huntingdon Valley Fire Company for 50+ years, as well as a member of the Bryn Athyn Ambulance Company for many years.
David's career with SP Industries, formerly The Hull Corporation, spanned an impressive 51 years, during which he traveled the world and made lasting connections. Despite his global adventures, his heart was always with his family, whom he cherished deeply.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Harriet. Together, they built a life centered on love, faith, and family.
David was the loving father of Susan Clayton Fellenz (Nickolas Fellenz) and David Clayton, Jr., (Bernadette Clayton) and the proud and adored "Pop-Pop" to Tiffany Fellenz, Brianne Clayton (Thomas Friedman), Shannan Clayton, Mollie Kate Clayton, and Sean David Clayton.
His wisdom, humor, and unwavering support will be dearly missed but forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. David Charles Clayton, Sr. leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and dedication that will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.
A Celebration of David's life will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 N. Main St., Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. His memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Interment in Sunset Memorial Park, Huntingdon Valley will immediately follow.
