Ellen E. Clark

Longtime Sellersville resident and Grand View Hospital nurse, Ellen E. Clark, 87, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023, in Quakertown, just over a week shy of her 88th birthday.

She was the loving wife of the late Curtis V. Clark, Jr. The couple was married on September 28, 1956, and had celebrated 47 years of marriage until his passing in 2003.

Born in Abington, she was the daughter of Edward and Viola (Eisenhard) Erwin, of Doylestown. She was a graduate of Central Bucks High School and the Grand View Hospital School of Nursing.

Following her graduation from the program in 1956, Ellen began a celebrated 42-year nursing career at the hospital, which included running the hospital’s emergency room. She retired in 1998.

A voracious reader, she also enjoyed walking (as she never drove); sending cards for any occasion to any family member, friend, or acquaintance who could use one; and giving of her time and talents.

She was a deeply committed citizen of the Sellersville community, including service on the Borough Planning Commission, volunteering with the Sellersville Museum and the Sellersville Chamber of Commerce Fishing Derby, and being active in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. For her dedication to the community, she was honored as Sellersville Citizen of the Year in 1996.

Mrs. Clark is survived by her sons: Neil E. and his wife, Brenda, of Perkasie, and Steven A. and his wife, Gwyn, of Quakertown; grandchildren: Amanda, Allyson, Aaron, Matthew, Samuel, and Abigail; great- grandchildren: Noah, Honor, Hadley, and Hudson; and her sister, Janice Allen, and her husband, Richard, of Wrightstown. She also leaves behind countless dear friends who were like family.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Erwin.

Calling hours will be held from 6 - 8:30 p.m. on Friday, October 6, and 9 -11 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 104 Green St., Sellersville, PA 18960, where her funeral service will follow immediately at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
