Mabel D. Cassidy, formerly of Dublin and Holland, PA, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022, in Quakertown Center, Quakertown. She was 93.
She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel J. Cassidy for 63 years until his death in 2011.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Walter J. and Elsie A. (Schlack) Ware.
When her children were young, Mrs. Cassidy was primarily a homemaker, dedicated to the upbringing of her four children while still working part-time jobs in local bakeries and an insurance office. She would later spend 13 years as the full-time ward clerk for the Operating Room at Doylestown Hospital, a position she held with great pride and a sense of accomplishment.
Family vacations always involved trips with their travel trailer, which eventually was parked at the Jersey shore, where Mabel and the family could indulge their love of the beach and the ocean. Swimming was a favorite pastime for all.
After Mabel and Dan retired, they enjoyed cross country travel with a motor home.
A gifted artist, Mabel had enjoyed taking art classes at Bucks County Community College, while collecting the prints of her favorite painter, Andrew Wyeth. Always an animal lover, whether dogs, cats, birds, or rabbits, Mabel had especially adored horses when she was young. After her retirement, she happily purchased “Molly,” “Jill,” and “Sheba,” whom she loved to ride and groom.
In her later years, Mrs. Cassidy loved miles-long daily neighborhood walks, usually accompanied by her faithful dog, “Oreo.” She also loved dining out with her children.
Mrs. Cassidy is survived by her three children: Barbara Tomlinson and her husband, Robert, of Telford, Roy Cassidy and his wife, Christine, of Dublin, and Daniel Cassidy and his wife, Bethanne, of Hatfield; six grandchildren: Christopher Beck and his wife Shelly, Michael Beck and his wife Iris, Nicole Gutierrez and her husband Robert, Alexandra Ries and her husband Mark, Robert Tomlinson, Jr. and his wife Rebecca, and Joseph Tomlinson and his wife Kayla.
She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Reed Beck, Maggie Beck, Marcus Beck, Joe Beck, Robert Tomlinson III, James Tomlinson, Lilianna Gutierrez, Wesley Ries, and Corinne Ries; and her son-in-law, George Beck, and his wife Ann.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn D. Beck, and a sister.
All services will be private.
Interment will be in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie.
