Betty Ann Carr, of Red Hill, formerly of Quakertown and Sellersville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 9, 2023. She was just three days short of her 93rd birthday.
She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice “Reese” H. Carr for 55 years until his death in 2007.
Born in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Betty Ann was the daughter of the late Davis and Sara (McLaughlin) Markley. Betty Ann was a 1948 graduate of Germantown High School.
A loving wife, mother, and homemaker, happily caring for her husband and three children, Betty Ann had also worked part-time at Logan Elementary School for the Philadelphia School District. In later years, she would also work as a part-time secretary at the Upper Bucks Christian School, in Sellersville.
Betty Ann accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was ten years old and was baptized at the Third Baptist Church of Germantown. After moving to Bucks County in 1979, Betty Ann and Reese were faithful members of Bethel Baptist Church, Sellersville for 40 years. Most recently, Betty Ann was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church, in Quakertown.
A woman of great faith, Betty Ann had served her Savior by active volunteerism, ranging from neighborhood Child Evangelism meetings while resident in Germantown to teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Bible studies over the years. She also worked in the nursery, visited shut-ins, and was active with various women’s ministries. As a talented musician, she also volunteered as a pianist and organist.
An animal lover, Betty Ann also delighted in cooking for family and friends. She enjoyed following the Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles and Phillies. Her greatest joys were found in her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and in serving her church family.
Betty Ann is survived by her three children: Thomas M. Carr and his wife, Rhonda, Jo Ann Delp and her husband, Tim, and Susan McClure and her husband, David; ten grandchildren: Kevin T., Emily, Stephanie, Kevin S., Thomas, Joseph, Sarah, Katherine, John, and Benjamin; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 a. m. on Friday, November 17, at Providence Presbyterian Church, 2200 Krammes Road, Quakertown, PA 18951, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Interment in Sellersville Cemetery will be private.
