James J. Cahill, Jr., of Sellersville, formerly of Hilltown, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016, in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. He was 79.
He was the beloved husband of the late Anne F. (Bishop) Cahill for 25 years until her death in 2012.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late James J. and Alma Elizabeth (Lynch) Cahill. He was a 1954 graduate of West Catholic High School for Boys, Philadelphia.
Mr. Cahill was a U.S. Army veteran.
Jim had been employed as a journeyman electrician for IBEW Local 98, Philadelphia.
A rabid Philadelphia Eagles fan, Jim also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and bird watching. He was a nature lover and enjoyed spending time outside, especially taking care of the family pool. After his retirement, Jim began building and refinishing furniture for family and friends. He most loved spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his children, Timothy Cahill and his wife, Sharon, of Wyndmoor; Kevin Cahill, of Quakertown; Daniel Cahill and Kelly O’Hara, both of North Carolina; Sean Cahill and his wife, Dana, of Brooklyn, NY; Linda Godown, of Mason, Ohio; Karl Myers, of Orwigsburg; and Vicky O’Toole and her husband, John, of New Britain.
He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren, Adam, Zack, Mary, Keely, Connor, Emily, Jack, Gwen, Stephanie, Rebecca, Christopher, Victoria, and John; six great-grandchildren, Ciaran, Kaycie, Cassidy; Ethan; Charlotte; and Juliette; a sister, Frances Grubb, and her husband, William, of Telford; a brother, John Cahill and his wife, Patricia, of Doylestown; and his cat, “Gracie.”
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemarie Purcell and Theresa Cahill, and a step-son, Charles “Chuck” Myers.
His Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, November 19, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 N. Main St., Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
