Miriam G. "Mim" Bruzas, 87, a life-long resident of Sellersville, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2010, after a brief illness at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank C. Bruzas, Jr., for 51 years, until his death in 1995.
Born in Sellersville, she was the daughter of the late Eberhard Dresh "Art" Smith and Gertrude (Petrie) Smith.
Mim was a 1939 graduate of Sell-Perk High School. She later attended Peirce School of Business, Philadelphia.
She had been employed as a secretary at various area companies.
Mrs. Bruzas was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Sellersville, where she had volunteered with the newsletter preparation, served on the bazaar committee, and worked church dinners.
She was also a long-time member of the Sellersville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where she had served as a Trustee and on the Kitchen, Soup Day, and the Ways and Means Committees. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Lenape Chapter #339.
Mim had been a member of Generations (SAAC), Souderton, and the Pennridge Community Senior Center, Silverdale. She also volunteered preparing crafts for the benefit of Ridge Crest.
A talented artist, Mim was an especially gifted oil painter.
Mrs. Bruzas is survived by her two daughters: Jane B. Nase, and her husband, Larry D., of Sellersville; and Nancy R. Shelly, and her husband, Willard, of Solebury; four grandchildren: Rebecca McNeff, and her husband, Timothy, of Sellersville; Bryan T. Shelly, PhD., of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Cheryl Murray, and her husband, J. Christian, of Richlandtown; and Jill M. Shelly, of Silver Spring, Maryland; two great-grandchildren: Connor and Iain Murray, of Richlandtown; and her beloved dog, "Rocky."
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Crouthamel.
Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 19, 2010, at 11:00 AM in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 104 Green Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call Friday morning at the church, beginning at 10:00 AM until time of service.
Interment will be in Sellersville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ at the address above or to Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960.
