Stanley R. Brown, of the Rockhill Mennonite Community, Sellersville, entered into God’s eternal care Friday, May 11, 2012, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. He was the beloved husband of Sandra (Jackson) Brown for 55 years. He was 78.
Born in Bloomington, Kansas, he was the son of the late Leonard R. and Jessie (Berger) Brown. A graduate of Iowa State University, Stan later earned his MBA from Temple University.
Before moving to Sellersville, the Browns had resided for several years in Hanover and southern Maryland. Prior to that, they lived in Bucks County for 25 years.
Mr. Brown had a long career as a chemical engineer working with the U.S. Navy for the Department of Defense. His assignments included positions in Warminster, PA and Patuxent River, MD.
Stan had volunteered with Red Cross Disaster Relief and the Hanover Historical Society. His hobbies included fishing, camping and sports.
Stan will be remembered as a nice, gentle, unassuming man, whose family was the joy of his life.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Brown is survived by his three sons: Curtis R. Brown, of Lawrenceville, NJ; Douglas E. Brown, of Bloomington, Indiana; Richard C. Brown, of Sellersville; and five grandchildren: Caitlin; Julie; Nicholas; Kimberly and Kristen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sidney, and a sister, Barbara.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, May 14, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. There are no calling hours. Interment will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
