Norbert W. “Nonnie” Breslin, 80, of Blandon, formerly a 39-year resident of Sellersville, passed away after a brief struggle with cancer early Saturday morning, December 6, in St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading. He was the beloved husband of Regina Mae (Burdess) Breslin for 58 years.
Born in New Philadelphia (Schuylkill County), he was a son of the late John and Victoria (Kachinsky) Breslin. He was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School, Pottsville.
Mr. Breslin was a US Army paratrooper veteran, having served stateside during the Korean War.
He was employed for 33 years as a mechanic at Ford Aeronautics and Refrigeration, Lansdale until his retirement in 1990. Prior to that, he had worked as an assembler at Aetna Steel, Pottsville.
Mr. Breslin was a long-time member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville. After moving to Blandon four years ago, he became a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Kutztown.
He had been a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #1539, Sellersville and the VFW Forrest Lodge 245, Sellersville.
An all-around handyman, Mr. Breslin could tinker with, fix, or repair just about anything. He also enjoyed watching Notre Dame football. Most especially, he was a loving and devoted grandfather to his two grandsons.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jessica M. Bonner and her husband, Michael, Douglassville, and two grandchildren, Patrick and Aidan Bonner, both of Douglassville.
Mr. Breslin was preceded in death by a son, Patrick John, who died in 1971, a sister and two brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 11, at 10: 00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville. Family and friends may call Wednesday evening, December 10, from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville or at the church Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until 9: 45 AM. Interment will be in the adjacent parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions in Mr. Breslin’s memory be made to the charity of one’s choice.
