Stanley A. Breckley, 66, of Sellersville, passed away suddenly after surgery on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at St. Luke’s Quakertown Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Sine) Breckley for 41 years.
Born in Lansdale, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Anna (Kruszkowski) Breckley. He was a graduate of North Penn High School. He later completed course work at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Stan was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served on the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Shangri-La, during the Vietnam era.
He had been employed as a residential supervisor for 23 years at Girard College, Philadelphia, until his retirement in 1999.
While at Girard College, Stan served as credit union president, vice president of Pennsylvania State Education Association-NEA and as a member of the Boy Scouts Committee.
As a member of the U.S S. Shangri-La Reunion Association, he and his wife enjoyed traveling to the various reunion locales.
Stan loved listening to all types of music, especially classical, doo-wop, and soft rock. He liked working with computers and traveling by rail. He and his wife also enjoyed frequent road trips to New England.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Charles J. Breckley, of Bensalem; a sister, Eleanor K. Breckley, of Lansdale; his brother-in-law, Joseph D. Sine, of Philadelphia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Bailey and Mary Ann Strauss, and his beloved boxer, "Samantha."
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at 11:00 AM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where family and friends may call from 9:30 AM until time of service.
Interment will follow in Sellersville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Stan’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
