Mary Ella Bedwell, 89, of Quakertown, formerly of Philadelphia, died Monday, August 22, 2011, in Quakertown Center – Genesis HealthCare, Quakertown. She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice Leroy Bedwell, Sr., who passed away in 1972.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Lydia (Swiker) MacKenzie.
She had been a homemaker for most of her adult life.
Mrs. Bedwell had been a member of Bethel Temple Community Bible Church, Philadelphia.
In her spare time, Mary loved to play BINGO, listen to music, and watch old classic movies and musicals, especially Shirley Temple films.
The joy of Mary’s life was her family.
Mrs. Bedwell is survived by her son, Maurice Leroy Bedwell, Jr., of Phoenix, Arizona; her two daughters: Dorothy M. Troxell, of Hereford; and Carrie Jean Miners, of Coopersburg; 27 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, James MacKenzie, of Philadelphia; and two sisters: Kathryn Vitale, of Cottonwood, Arizona; and Ruth Stabbs, of Philadelphia.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Arlene Conrad; two sons: Wesley Franklin Bedwell and Dennis James Bedwell; and two grandchildren: Nicol Conrad Rush and Tabbitha Ann Richards.
Her graveside service will be held Friday, August 26, 2011, at 1:00 PM in New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ Cemetery, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville, PA 18041. There are no calling hours.
