Hilda Duld Bauman, of Arlington, Virginia, formerly of Lansdale and Perkasie, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington. She was 98.
Born in Egypt (Lehigh County), she was the daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Lagler) Duld.
After the death of her beloved husband of 62 years, Edward Bauman, in December 2000, Mrs. Bauman moved to Arlington, Virginia, in 2001 and lived at the Archstone Pentagon City with her daughter, Linda Bauman Matarese, and son-in-law, Domenic Matarese.
Mrs. Bauman had owned and operated her own business for over 20 years as a retailer of African violets to the Philadelphia metropolitan area. She later worked at Grand View Hospital as a dietary cook. After her retirement, she worked at Santerians Department Store, in Lansdale.
Hilda has been a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lansdale. Prior to that, she had been a member of St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie. After her relocation to Virginia in 2001, she attended Calvary United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Bauman was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the African Violet Society of America, Inc.
An avid gardener, Hilda and her husband had tended a garden in Willow Park, Lansdale, for over 20 years. She also loved to bake for her appreciative family, especially shoo fly and apple pies.
Mrs. Bauman is survived by her daughter, Linda Bauman Matarese, and her husband, Domenic, of Virginia; sisters-in-law, Elsie Bloom, of Telford, and Jean Bauman, of Sellersville; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Caroline Moyer, and a brother, John Duld.
Her funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie. Flowers are welcome.
