Frances A. Azzopardi, 88, of Doylestown, formerly of Spring Hill, Florida, and Smithtown, New York, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011, in Doylestown Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Felice L. "Phil" Azzopardi for 53 years until his death in 2000.
Born in Maspeth, Queens, New York, she was a daughter of the late John and Millie (Spinelli) Tedeschi.
After their marriage, the Azzopardis were one of the first families to reside in America’s original planned suburban community, Levittown, New York.
Although primarily a homemaker, Fran also assisted her husband in the operation of several popular luncheonettes that they owned in Queens and the nearby communities of Bayville, Central Islip, Oakdale, and Eastport, all on Long Island.
Mrs. Azzopardi is survived by her two sons: John P. Azzopardi, and his wife, Nancy A. Barin, V.M.D., of Sellersville; and Richard J. Azzopardi, of Smithtown, New York; a grandson, Richard A. Azzopardi, and his wife, Kate, of Albany, New York; two nieces: Joan Crowley, of Toms River, New Jersey; and Marilyn Tedeschi, of Rochester, New York; and two nephews: William Ahles, of Union City, New Jersey; and Robert Ahles, of Denville, New Jersey. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, William Ahles, of Union City, New Jersey, and a sister-in-law, Mildred Tedeschi, of Queens, New York.
In addition to her husband, Fran was preceded in death by two brothers: Michael Tedeschi and Edward Tedeschi, and a sister, Mary Ahles.
Services will be private.
