Luella M. Alderton, 72, of Haycock Township, went to meet Jesus on Monday morning, October 6, at her residence. She was the wife of the late James Edward Alderton.
Born in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Edward Thomas and Betty Catherine (Patterson) Oney.
Mrs. Alderton was a homemaker.
Luella had volunteered with Mennonite Disaster Service and had traveled to Alabama after Hurricane Katrina to paint houses.
An independent-minded woman, she was the nurturing heart of her family, teaching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren right from wrong. Her family was the joy of her life.
Mrs. Alderton is survived by three sons: James Edward Alderton, Jr.; Len Sneed, Jr.; Jonathan Michael Alderton; a daughter, Michele L. Mullen; nine grandchildren: Ricky, Victoria, Jasmine, Ashley, Patrick, Jay, Jamie, Holly, and William; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers: David, Lawrence, and Clarence; one sister, Lottie; and her dogs, “Lady” and “Rocky.” In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Eugene, and two sisters: Mary and “Lennie.”.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, October 11, at 1:30 PM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 PM until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations in Mrs. Alderton’s name be made to Mennonite Disaster Service, 1018 Main Street, Akron, PA 17501 or to the charity of one’s choice.
