Obituary for Dorothy "Dottie" (Dorn) Jacoby-Fisher

Dorothy "Dottie" (Dorn)  Jacoby-Fisher
Dorothy "Dottie" Jacoby-Fisher, 84, of Souderton, formerly of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Bedminster, passed away peacefully at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township, on Saturday, October 1, 2011. She was the beloved wife of Horace H. Fisher for 18 years and the late George H. Jacoby for 38 years, before his death in 1985.

Born in Souderton, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Lillie (Godshall) Dorn.

Dottie was a 1945 graduate of Souderton High School, where she played field hockey and was also a cheerleader. She later graduated from the Marinello School of Beauty, Philadelphia.

She had owned and operated her own beauty salon, "The Pin-Up," in Bedminster for 26 years. She had also previously worked at Lorraine’s Beauty Shop, Telford.

Mrs. Jacoby-Fisher enjoyed volunteering, once serving as a Girl Scout leader.

She was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Tohickon United Church of Christ, (Weisel) Bedminster Township, where she helped with various church activities.

In her spare time, Dottie loved playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs. She also enjoyed camping, bowling, golfing, playing pool, and participating in activities sponsored by Generations, Souderton, of which she was a member.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Dorene Gulden, and her husband, Jere, of Telford; two sons: Ronald K. Jacoby, of Souderton; and Jeffrey N. Jacoby, and his wife, Holly, of Sellersville; three step-daughters: Debra Fisher, of Quakertown; Donna Moyer, and her husband, Arthur, of Perkasie; and Edna Kacerik, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Quakertown; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her first husband, George, Dottie was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Jacoby; two half-sisters: Edna and Mildred; and one brother, Paul Gerhart.

Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 15, 2011, in St. Peter’s Tohickon United Church of Christ, 1050 Old Bethlehem Road, Perkasie, PA 18944. There are no calling hours. All are invited for food and fellowship after the service, where the family will greet friends.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
