Obituary for Robert F. Galdo

Robert F. Galdo, of Perkasie, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia. He was 86.

Robert had shared 57 years with his late wife, Elizabeth S. (Peltzer) Galdo, until her death in 2020.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Albert and Rose C. (Alosi) Galdo. He was a 1954 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School. Bob later earned an Associate degree in Industrial Management from Temple University.

Mr. Galdo was a U. S. Army veteran.

Employed as a management superintendent for 23 years, Bob had overseen production at Cosmopolitan, Lifetime, Outdoor Life, Good Housekeeping, Life, and Time magazines.

He had also worked for 35 years as a professional harness racing driver, competing at Pocono Downs, Liberty Bell Park, Brandywine Raceway, Freehold Raceway, Rosecroft Raceway, and Yonkers Raceway.

He had also owned and operated a bread route for over 10 years, following in a three-generation maternal family tradition that had begun with the Alosi Bakery, of Philadelphia.

Robert was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.

An avid outdoorsman, Bob was a member of Bucks County Fish and Game Association, of Doylestown; the Paletown Rod and Gun Club and Great Swamp Fish and Game, both of Quakertown; and Milford Fish and Game, of Milford Township. He was also a member of the NRA, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and the National Turkey Federation. His professional membership was with the United States Trotting Association.

Politically, Bob had retired as a Republican Party Committeeman, where he had served from 2003-2019 working with the Senate campaign of Charles T. McIlhinney in an outreach program focused on Pennsylvania veterans, senior citizens, and sportsmen.

Mr. Galdo is survived by his five sons: Albert Galdo, William Galdo and his wife, Jennifer, Robert Galdo and his wife, Colette, Thomas Galdo, and Gerald Galdo; nine grandchildren: Stephen, Julia, Brendan, Christian, Alex, Bryan, Alyssa, Ryan, and Robert Jr; three great-grandchildren: Maria Victoria, Zion, and Emberly; and a sister, Barbara Manion.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Galdo was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kriston Galdo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, May 26, in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 N. Main St., Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Interment with full military honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
