Obituary for Robert H. Leatherman

Robert H. Leatherman, a long-time Sellersville resident, formerly of Perkasie, passed away on Friday evening, March 10, 2023, at his residence. He was 90.

He was the beloved husband of Delores (Cerwensky) Leatherman. They had just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in January.

Born in Bedminster, Bob was the youngest of the eleven children born to the late Abraham and Katie (Hafler) Leatherman. Bob was a graduate of Sell-Perk High School.

Mr. Leatherman was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served from 1950-1951 during the Korean War.

Bob had been employed as a truck driver for Deep Run Packing, of Dublin, retiring after more than 30 years with the company.

He was a life-long member of St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie.

Bob had also been a member of the Keelersville Club.

An avid fisherman and boater, Bob had also enjoyed traveling. Bob and Delores had journeyed throughout the continental United States and further afield to Hawaii and Alaska. They also made trips to Puerto Rico and Mexico. Bob also took great pride in maintaining the gardens and landscaping at their home.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Leatherman is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Wilmer, Abraham, Russell, and Walter Leatherman and six sisters: Evelyn Lear, Margaret VanBuskirk, Hannah Hermann, Catherine “Cass” Godshall, Grace Ellis, and Esther Ellis.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 22, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Interment with military honors will follow in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bob’s name may be made to St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Avenue, Perkasie, PA 18944 or to a charity of one’s choice.
