Obituary for Carrie E. Kletzing

Carrie E. Kletzing, 94, completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. She was the wife of the late Stanley F. Kletzing for 66 years until his death in 2013.

Born in Hagersville, Carrie was the daughter of the late Samuel B. and Carrie E. (Crouthamel) Harner.

Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church, Carrie grew up on a small farm in Haycock Township and graduated from the 8th grade.

A skilled seamstress, she worked for several local clothing companies. After their marriage, she and her husband settled on a small farm in Salfordville, Montgomery County.

Her cheerful home was always adorned by her handiwork. She was a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch homemaker, and she will be remembered for her holiday dinners with home- preserved fruits and vegetables, home- baked pies, and homespun love for her family.

Her favorite hobby was family history. Working with relatives and a professional genealogist, she researched the Harner and Kletzing family trees.

Mrs. Kletzing is survived by her three sons: Rev. S. Dennis Kletzing (Connie), of Everson, PA, with whom she lived for the past ten years; Gregory L. Kletzing (Barbara), of York, PA; and Rev. Dr. Joel C. Kletzing (Nancy,) of Roaring Spring, PA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; a sister, Ellen H. Buchenauer, of Port Allegany, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Knechel and Grace Benner, and a brother, Samuel Harner.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 N. Main St., Sellersville, PA 18960 and from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 15, at Christ Community Bible Church, 1830 N. Ridge Rd., Perkasie, PA 18944. Her funeral service will follow immediately in the church at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Tohickon Union Cemetery, Bedminster Township.
