Obituary for Donald M. Englestad

Donald Martin Englestad, of the Community at Rockhill, West Rockhill Township, formerly a resident of Fort Washington, PA and Belleair Bluffs, FL, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. He was 93.

He was the beloved husband of the late Carol (Anderson) Englestad for 60 years until her death in 2011.

Born in Erie, he was the son of the late Arnold M. and Augusta (Clarke) Englestad. Donald was raised in Jamestown, NY, where he met Carol in high school and where they were later married.

Mr. Englestad was a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve.

Donald had been employed in office equipment sales for many years.

After his retirement in the 1990s, Don and Carol relocated to their beloved Florida, where they had lived in the 1960s. Both were members and former officers of the Scandinavian Club, of Clearwater, FL. They also often attended services at the Salvation Army, in Clearwater, where his cousin, Bernice Howell, was a retired officer.

Donald particularly loved things that moved, especially things that moved fast, often driving his MG Midget or his motorcycle to the airport to fly his plane after a breakfast with other weekend pilots.

Mr. Englestad is survived by his children: Rev. Gary Englestad and his wife, Marilyn, of Haddon Township, New Jersey, and Patricia Root and her husband, Clifford, of Silverdale; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

His memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Community at Rockhill, 3250 State Rd., Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.

Interment in Serenity Gardens Memorial Park, Largo, FL will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Englestad’s name may be made to the Salvation Army online at www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/ways-to-give or to The Seeing Eye online at www.seeingeye.org.
