Obituary for Elizabeth Anna Senior

Elizabeth A. Senior, formerly of Perkasie, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023, at her residence in The Community at Rockhill, West Rockhill Township. She was 95.

She was the beloved wife of the late William A. Senior for 60 years until his death in 2008.

Born and raised in Sellersville, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Lydia (Godshall) Boyer. Betty attended Sell-Perk High School.

Betty began working at a young age by helping with her father’s huckster business, selling fruits and vegetables locally. After high school, she was employed by the former U. S. Gauge Division, Ametek, Inc., Sellersville. She later worked at the former American Olean Tile, Lansdale until 1960.

It is her employment in the Pennridge High School cafeteria from 1968 -1992 that brought Betty the greatest pleasure. Known affectionately as “The Cookie Lady,” she was also known for yelling “soup” as students came through the lunch lines.

A faithful, long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Perkasie, Betty had helped with Sunday school, Bible school, and in the church nursery. Along with her husband, she also spent many hours as a member of the church’s kitchen crew preparing and serving meals at various functions.

Civic-minded, Mrs. Senior had volunteered throughout the community, ranging from working at Pennridge Community Center fundraising breakfasts and in the Perkasie Order of the Owls kitchen to helping in the office of the Pennridge Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Perkasie Historical Society and enjoyed serving refreshments at the Perkasie Carousel.

Betty’s easygoing, generous, fun nature endeared her to her many friends, whether she was playing on the Trinity women’s softball team in her younger years, going on bus trips, or playing Bingo. She also enjoyed roller skating and attending dances. Always ready for the next adventure, she most cherished time spent with her family, whom she loved dearly.

Mrs. Senior is survived by her son, Bruce Senior, and his wife, Mary Ann, of Escondido, CA; her daughter, Brenda Price, and her husband, Douglas, of Perkasie; three grandchildren: Katie Riley and her husband, Chris, of East Greenwich, RI, Erin Price and her fiancé, Thomas Hamilton, of Harrisburg, and Lauren Price, of Perkasie; two great-grandchildren: Evelyn Riley and Everett Riley; and a sister, Gloriann Beer, and her husband, C. James Beer.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Geoffrey Senior, and three brothers, Harvey, Russell, and James Boyer.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, January 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 19 S. Fifth Street, Perkasie, PA 18944, where a visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until time of service.

Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Senior’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church at the address above.
