Obituary for Joseph John Cassell, Jr.

Joseph J. Cassell, Jr., a/k/a "Smokin' Joe,” of East Rockhill Township, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2022, in Jefferson Lansdale Hospital, Lansdale. He was 63.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph J., Sr. and Rose (Keller) Cassell. He attended Pennridge High School, Perkasie and finished with his GED.

Over the years, Joe had been employed by MidGuard, Todd Motors, the Quakertown Car Wash, and Hatfield Auto Auction.

Joe was a longtime member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville
.
He was a member of the VFW Forrest Lodge, Post #245, Sellersville, where he socialized often.

In his earlier years, Smokin' Joe had played the drums. He loved all kinds of music, but especially AC/DC and The Rolling Stones. He enjoyed attending concerts and other events with family and friends. An avid NASCAR, Philadelphia Phillies, and Eagles fan, he had also enjoyed trips to Vegas and Atlantic City when he was able.

During his lifetime, he had a variety of cars and even a motorcycle. Also an animal lover, Joe had a horse, many dogs, and a few cats. His last companion pet was “Buster Boy.”

Joe was always a gentle, kind man who had time for family, friends, and those in need.

He is survived by a sister, Shirley Pugh, and her husband Charles, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rose M. Maria, in 2017.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in the adjacent parish cemetery.
