Obituary for Marie Hartley

Marie Hartley, of the Community at Rockhill and formerly a long-time resident of Hilltown Township, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. She was 91.

She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth P. Hartley for 44 years until his death in 1994.

Born in Silverdale, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elsie Mae (Crouthamel) Benner.

A talented seamstress, Mrs. Hartley had run a sewing business from her home. She also spent many years working at the Lutheran Deaconess House, Gladwyne as a seamstress.

Marie was a life-long member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Perkasie, where she had supervised the Kitchen Committee for decades and taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School.

When her daughters were young, Mrs. Hartley had volunteered as a Girl Scout leader.

Church activities and frequent lunches at local diners with friends happily filled Marie’s life.

Mrs. Hartley is survived by her children: Kenneth P. Hartley and his wife, Shirley Parker, of Old Saybrook, CT, Patricia D. Turner and her husband, George Jr., of Harleysville, Christina M. Hartley, of Rehoboth, MA, and Joyce Hartley and her husband, Rick Culpepper, of Cosby, TN; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice Faulkner, and her husband, Robert, of Arizona.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Community at Rockhill, 3250 State Rd., Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Interment in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie will be private at the convenience of the family.
