Obituary for Bernard F. Ricci

Bernard Frank Ricci, a long-time resident of Hilltown Township, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022, in Abington Hospice. He was 92.

Born in Ambler, he was the son of the late Frank and Raphia (Camasso) Ricci. Bernard earned an Associate degree from Temple University.

Mr. Ricci was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Over time, he would rise to the rank of Staff Sergeant and be stationed at the Pentagon, where he was proud to have his own parking space.

Once returned to civilian life, Mr. Ricci would be employed as a construction manager, building Pizza Huts, Roy Rogers fast food, Emerson Steak House, Cattle Baron restaurant, Midas Mufflers, Jiffy Lubes, Kinder Cares, and 32 Taco Bells.

He grocery shopped every single day, buying blueberries and cantaloupes and other produce and living by the slogan he had seen on a delivery truck when he was six years old: “Eat fruits and vegetables and live longer.” His other daily routine consisted of sitting on his front porch after breakfast and dinner while enjoying his DeNobili cigar.

A Philadelphia Phillies fan, Bernard also enjoyed television game shows, especially “Jeopardy,” “Wheel of Fortune,” and “The Price is Right.”

Mr. Ricci is survived by his eight children: Frank Ricci and his wife, Lori, of Montgomeryville, Ben Ricci, Jr. and his wife, Inessa, of Tucson, AZ, Leonard Ricci, of Pasadena, CA, Michael Ricci, of Hilltown, Raffelle Nigrelli and her husband, John, of Juno Beach, FL, Ida Bronfield and her husband, John, of Hellertown, Camilla Ricci, of Redondo Beach, CA, and Elizabeth Diehl, of Sellersville; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Grace Ann Ricci, in 1986; a brother, Leonard Ricci; and a sister, Elizabeth Innella.
