Obituary for Janice L. Linfoot

Janice L. (Bowen) Linfoot, of Norristown, was called into eternal life on Thursday, August 13, 2020, in Einstein Medical Center-Montgomery, East Norriton. She was a vibrant and energetic 90-year-old.

She was the beloved wife of Gerald R. Linfoot for 43 years.

Born in Perkasie, she was the daughter of the late Paul A. and Florence (Hunsberger) Bowen. Janice grew up in Philadelphia and was a 1948 graduate of Olney High School. She was best known for her friendly manner and quick smile, while always available to help others.

Always a career woman, Mrs. Linfoot was both an entrepreneur, as well as holding a variety of financial positions with several corporations. Along with her partnership in a transportation company, she was the developer and owner/operator of the Island Café, in her favorite beach town of Avalon, NJ.

Janice had a passion for cooking, entertaining guests, community outreach, and pursuing travel adventures to Greece, Barbados, Copenhagen, and Monte Carlo, while also relishing summertime in Avalon, NJ.

Mrs. Linfoot was a long-time, active, and beloved member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairview Village. Serving on several committees, she most enjoyed volunteering at the local soup kitchen.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Linfoot is survived by her daughter, Doreen Ford, of Maryland, three granddaughters, Lauren Pierce and her husband, Kent, of Manheim, Jenna Chase and her husband, Sean, of Springfield, and Elizabeth Mang, of Philadelphia; seven great-grandchildren; numerous treasured nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Kay Bowen and Mary Bowen.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna (Ford) Mang, a sister, Joyce (Bowen) Braswell, and two brothers, James Bowen and Jay Bowen.

Services for the family only will be held outside on August 29 at 10 am at Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Garden, 1190 Valley Forge Rd., Norristown, PA 19403. Interment will be private for the family. A visitation for the general public will be held at 11 am at the same location. DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL ATTENDEES. SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE ENFORCED.
