Obituary for Edward H. Schrandt

Edward H. Schrandt, of Tylersport, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019, at his residence. He was 95.

He was the beloved husband of Mary Lou (Figueroa) Schrandt for 33 years.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Gustav Herman and Violet E. (Algard) Schrandt.

Mr. Schrandt was a proud veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II.

Ed had been employed as a press operator at the former American Olean Tile Company, Lansdale, retiring around 1990.

Mr. Schrandt was a long-time member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Sellersville.

An avid traveler with his wife and, often, with his grandchildren, Ed had enjoyed cross country trips to California and international travel to the Bahamas, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. A member of a local bowling league with his wife, Ed had also played golf. Family members recall his favorite advice tip, “The street is your teacher.”

He loved to eat, cook, and grocery shop for supplies, often turning a quick trip to the store into a three or four- hour adventure. Favorite foods were pasta, especially spaghetti and meatballs, and Jewish apple cake, often made for his children’s birthdays. He was also a talented drawer.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Schrandt is survived by his three daughters, Jessica Y. Crouthamel and her husband, Stephen, of Northeast Maryland, MaryAnn Croissette, of Perkasie, and Maria Janet Votta, od Souderton; four grandchildren, Violet Benner, Kathleen Linberger, Austin Votta, and Montana Croissette; and four great-grandchildren, Bianca Benner, Kevin, Caleb, and Sadie Linberger.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald E. Benner, in 1996.

His funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, October 4, in St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 25 East Church Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Interment with military honors will follow in Sellersville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Schrandt’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org/donate.
